Online Extensive Reading: A Friend or Foe

The study looked into the perceptions of EFL instructors working at schools foreign languages various universities throughout Turkey in order to better understand effects Online Extensive Reading (OER) on language learning and difficulties regarding its implementation. A mixed-type descriptive design was used achieve aim study, data were collected through semi-structured interviews an online questionnaire. questionnaire completed by 181 instructors, 10 them took part interviews. quantitative analysis performed via SPSS.23 frequencies percentages calculated. qualitative which resulted formation themes codes carried out MAXQDA. results revealed that while held favourable towards OER including benefits reading, writing, vocabulary, they worried about certain hectic schedules, student motivation, school curriculums, exams, their technical expertise. Overall, it concluded despite instructors' OER, is not a practice frequently higher education due lack knowledge mentioned.
